Audio Texture Radio Show - February 25, 2013

Audio Texture Radio Show - February 25, 2013 by Audiotexture on Mixcloud

Sublime deep house kicked off this weeks show courtesy of Isolee and the "Allowance" title track from their new EP which led nicely into the Max Sedgeley like tones of Inch-time and "Time Of The Fire" before Mara TK hit us with some spiritual vibes from way down or New Zealand to be precise. Neve Naive then kept the vibes deep but with a dark undertone before the sugary soul of Inc. cut in with "Angel" the highlight of their pleasant new album on 4AD.

Romare is a sample chopping don and his forthcoming EP on Black Acre fuses the vintage sounds of black America with some fresh beats which led sensibly into some unadulterated classic soul from the interestingly titled, Apple and The Three Oranges. Medline has been going from strength to strength in the last couple of years and MPM are assisting his ascent by releasing an album of his modern versions of soul jazz classics, look out for it, it's killer start to finish as his version of "Red Clay" ably demonstrates.

Fujimoto Tetsuro then kept the soul vibes, albeit with a future twist, going which laid out the carpet for a little tropical selection kicking off with another Teleseen track from his, now released, debut album on 100% Silk and believe us when we say we could have played any track from the album, it really is that good. This led nicely into some Hip-Life vibes from King Ayisoba's new album which in turn was followed by the welcome return of the Owiny Sigoma Band before Kamal Abdul Alim ended the show in fine, classic, jazzy style with "Brotherhood" taken from the new Kevin Beadle compilation on BBE.

Audio Teture Radio Show - February 18, 2013

Electronic soul started this weeks show with the voiceless, late night vibes from the forthcoming Simple EP on Apollo before Lapalux and Kaytranda threw down some lovely vocals over deeper than deep beats. Sweatson Klank then turned the airwaves blue with the single from his forthcoming EP on Project Mooncircle before Teleseen dropped the deep, underground tropical flavour from his new LP due out soon on 100% Silk which has been on repeat recently. Next up was the return of a little Portico Quartet/SBTRK action  before Nosaj Thing ably demonstrated, as did DJ Rashad last week that just because a song is 160BPM doesn't mean it can't have soul.

Things then got rather more challenging with a taster of the raucous, almost random delights of the new Miguel Baptista Benedict album on Brainfeeder before Actress kept the leftfield vibes flowing which was followed by ATOM TM doing, rather surprisingly, his best Prince impression. After the devastating Dorian Concept last week we dropped the original "D&T" from Letherette which fused nicely with the Balearic vibes of Jay Shepheard. Adesse then took the house template to darker realms before Yosi Horikawa fused his great beat making with the distinctive vocals of Jesse Boykins III.

Audio Texture Radio Show - February 11, 2013

Really happy this week to start the show with some brand new Bilal and to announce he has signed to the good old boys at BBE Records for his new album due out in March and if the first single is anything to go by then we are all in for a big treat. Next up was some jazz from a fantastic new compilation on Heavenly Sweetness who have managed to unearth some incredible, forgotten, jazz gems from various dusty French vaults. BJ Smith then provided a stellar version of the Mos Def classic, "Umi Says" which led nicely into a modern day French future underground classic with the debut single from The Mardo Bump Society and for sure it's got the Bump.

Following the Gallic theme Trevor and Lisa then provided a taste of their new album dropping soon and its full of no nonense soul, funk and hip hop flavours. DJ Rashad then kept the soul but updated the beats with some Chicago footwork freshness and probably the best single to come out of the windy city scene todate. Letherette is one of the new Ninja golden boys with an album due later in the year. The first single is doing the rounds and as well as the original I'm loving the dance floor destroying Dorian Concept remix. Mycroft then took things into more cerebral, avant-garde territory which led nicely into the pysched out tribal ritual stylings of Super Jam.

Submerse then brought the show back to more familiar territory  somewhat with a pleasing combination of beats and melody before Setenta marked their return to the studio and for good measure threw Orando Julias into the mix, pure Afrolatin party vibes. Things then went all housey with a potential crossover smash from White Lamp which led nicely into young German talent Max Graef with some help from Labuzinski before Adesse finished the show in superlative deep house style.

Audio Texture Radio Show - February 4, 2013

So Heidi Vogel starts off the show in super deep Brazilian jazz style with a little taste of her forthcoming album coming on Far Out. Mo Kolours then laid down the  down and dirty vibes with the sleazy, tropical delights of "Bomptious" which led nicely into the beats and big band jazz fusion of Mark De Clive-Lowe and a whole heap of Dutch jazz musicians. Then came a taste of blog, Moovmnt's, debut release as they take the leap from the written word to the musical note in fine style with an album of deep soul, jazz vibes courtesy of Vincent Helbers aka Flowriders and now aka Seravince.

Heidi Vogel then returned with Jason Swinscoe's take on the show's opening track "Black Narcissus" and what a frankly, ridiculously good, remix it is as well with the Cinematics man taking the tune on a trip into big bassline, big screen, epic, dancefloor destroying territory - inspired. Haitus Kaiyote then brought the show down into deep future soul, but all too shorth, territory before the mysterious Lady threw down some damn nice, modern, feelgood soul. Modern boogie was then the order of the day with Juan Laya and Jorge Montiel and their future classic, "It's Got To Be Music" which nicely paved the way for some modern boogie beats from Hint.

Dobie, as is usually his want, got nasty on the sound system with his new single to promote his new album, "She's Stopped Now". Bandshell then took the show into deep house with a twist territory which led nicely into the unmastered, but full of soul, joys of "Detroitus" from the promising Boneshaker.  Back in the day house vibes were then provided courtesy of DJ Deep's great new compilation and the not often heard "Karn Evil #10" which is just one of a whole raft of back in the day classics that Deep seems to have in endless numbers. The show was then brought back screaming into 2013 with the footwork soul sounds of Coco Bryce and "Club Tropicana"
