Audio Texture Radio Show - November 18, 2014

So all about the jazz to kick off the show with the fierce sounds of Jaimeo Brown closely followed by the sweeter tones of rising vocal star Zara McFarlane with some help from Leron Thomas which bodes very well for her forthcoming album on Brownswood. Things then got tinged with some tropical vibes from the very pleaseant Lord Echo album on Jakarta before Herbie Hancock got an excellent disco reggae makeover from the unfortunately named Taggy Matcher. Fatima has come through with a great new soul EP and we're particularly liking "Family". Robert Glasper then went nu-soul with some major assistance from Dwele on commendable vocal duty before Alice Russell finished off the soul section with the latest single taken from her recent album.

Now John Wizards has been one of our albums of the year for sheer invention and it was nice to get some remixes this week including one of Seiji's best remixes for a while making the show though look out for a nice, elongated house rub on the same package. EASY & COU then provided the submerged skwee vibes and we couldn't resist dropping another cut from the more than excellent KingTunes release, available on a Bandcamp freeload. Boxcutter is just about to drop a great footwork infused EP on Cosmic Bridge and "Daylight Saving" is just one of 6 great cuts on the soon to come release. Starship Connection then went all dubbed out boogie before vintage Afro soul from Penny Penny cut in and led nicely into some Luke Slater under a pseudoname new/vintage house vibes.

Audio Texture Radio Show - November 11, 2013

Trippy soul from New Zealand kicked off this weeks proceedings with the quirky delights of Connan Mockasin before the leftfield soul vibes of Jitwam ran nicely into the post punk funk of The Jellies. !!! with a little twist from Maurice Fulton then kept the funk but added some nice soul vocals before Axel Bonan's, end of night vibed, "Fantastic Piano" didn't quite end the night but paved the way for some classical experimentation from Nils Frahm.

KILM and KRTS then came through with the pastoral electronica before Jagan Mai kept the electronica but upped the exerimentation, very impressive for a 17 year old, one to keep your eyes on. The Teotima Ensemble then laid down some spiritual, soulful AfroLatinJazz vibes before Neptune Alpha Base Massive took us on a trip down Nu-Jazz memory lane. KingTunes then dropped the quality underground hip hop vibes from their great, free to grab release, Recondite upped the tempo before Rael and then Funkineven twisted the techno template to fit their own musical vision.

Audio Texture Radio Show - November 4, 2013

A mixed bag this week both stylistically and tempo wise and that's the way it should be really. F.S. Blumm kicked the show off in pastoral style with a taste of his lovely new album about to drop on one of our favourite labels, Pingipung. Aloa Input then ran with the pop vibe with "Zweiklang" from their new release on Morr Music before Ital Tek waded in with some atmospheric footwork to herald his forthcoming footwork flavoured EP on Planet Mu which led nicely into the least sacharine track from the new BFlecha album on Barcelona's Arkestra label. Krohn Jestram and Lippok then brought back the pop vibes in a German kind of way but melded it with an electronic finale befitting of a Tarwater collaborative effort.

Hartley and Wolfe sound like a chavvy UK clothing label but it is actually a pseudonym of DJ Vadim and Essex soulboy Greg Blackman and we're loving the Temptations like uptempo soul vibes of "Wat I've Been Told". Robot Koch then lowered the tempo with his new soundtrack project on Project Mooncircle which was closely followed by the fresh soul vibes of Harleighblu and her latest single "Let Me Be" from her great album, Forget Me Not out now on Tru-Thoughts. We then got deep into the long groove with the finest cut from Miracle's new album on Planet Mu, "Organon" before Jeremiah Jae stepped in with some forward leaning hip hop from his new Warp Records project.

Illum Sphere has been on our radar since his Hoya Hoya early days and it's nice to see him being picked up by Ninja Tune for his productions and "Sleeprunner" is more than a promising debut for the label. Gelbart is a producer from Tel Aviv, now living in Berlin (are there any producers not living in Berlin these days?) with a penchant for turning kids toys into musical instruments and general sonic experimentation and, believe it or not, "Meloda" is probably the most normal cut from his new album coming shortly on Gagarin. Percussive experimentation then followed from the meeting of Chronomad and Burnt Friedman under their Tohuwabohu moniker who also happen to boast this weeks worst song title, "0AFRM4" - catchy. Joe then dropped the percussive bass flavour which led nicely into some boogie experimentation from Imami before the show was nicely rounded off by King Of Hearts from the great NX compilation showcasing the hottest young talent from South East London's New Cross barrio.
