Bandcamp sales top $100 Million and sales up 30% in the last year - BIG UP

Now if you've been checking the radio show for the last few years you know that Bandcamp has become increasingly important to the show's content. Well they've just announced that the sales through the site have topped the $100 million mark and that sales figures have grown by 30% in the last year, now there are not too many music retail outlets that can boast figures like that, so a big congratulations to them and long may it continue.

It's also the site which has finally got me genuinely juiced up about digital digging with its friendly design, try the full track(s) before you by option and well executed newsfeed allowing me to connect with artists, labels and users to keep tabs on what is new. It also makes me feel all warm inside that the money is going direct to the artists and labels, cutting out the middle men and arriving where it can do most good in supporting the music making process.

I genuinely get excited about logging on and spending a couple of hours trawling the site and  discovering the wealth of talent that have decided to go their own way, avoid the label release route (or labels that have embraced the Bandcamp platform) and so I thought I would knock together a quick post on some of the great releases that I would never have discovered if it wasn't for Bandcamp.

If you want to delve deeper into my Bandcamp world then head over to the Audio Texture Bandcamp profile and if you like what you hear then you would probably also like the Audio Texture Radio Show - in the meantime check out these amazing releases below:
